Our first suggestion is to keep close contact with your travel agent or Destination Management Company and follow their operating instructions.
For example:
- At the point of arrival, after customs – people tend to stop and listen to Vacation Club promoters and such personnel, who will mislead you just get you in their 3 hour presentations. When they finally get to the main pick-up location for their transfer to the hotel, the Vehicle is no longer there as all vehicles have scheduled service orders and have to carry on to their next service. This is a very common mistake which usually results in a complaint. In this situation it is necessary to avoid anyone until you meet with your representative at the airport, they will be waiting for you with your name on a banner as soon as you exit the airport into the “Ground Transportation” exit.
Another thing to consider about the Cancun International Airport is that there are two exits. One says “Family and Friends” and the other “Ground Transportation.”

ASUR is the regulating authority at the airport along with all other pertaining federal dependencies such as customs. This is very important to consider as it is the main reason why people have long waiting times for their transportation vehicle to arrive, it is also a strong complaint cause. With situations like this, there is nothing else to do but be patient.
Book your transfer or tour service in advance, at least a day or two to secure availabilty; some companies may require more time in advance in order to secure a service.
